Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Beloved Ladies and gentlemen. All respectful friends and audiences . In this great moment, I would like to deliver a speech about Hobbies entitled “Reading and Writing are the best Hobbies”.
Wise word says that reading is a world’s window. Besides, the first verse revealed by our God Allah SWT was IQRA which means we should read. Without reading we do not know anything. And you are what you read. If we like reading, we must be a smart generation. Smart generation is a need for our country because only smart generation who can make our future better.
Ladies and gentlemen! And respectful audinces.
Nowadays we have tons of reading sources. Books, magazines, newspapers ad so on are good for getting brilliant information and ideas. It is better for us to spend our time by reading rather than watching TV. If we use our brain to read, we will force our brain to be able to analyze facts or information. So that our brain become active. But if we only watch, we let our brain to be passive. And this is not good for us.
However, we have to select good books, or magazines, or newspapers to be read because in our life we also can find some sources that are not good for us. Good reading texts are the sources which are not dangerous for our knowledge and our faith.
This verse instructs us to read in the name of God who has created us. This means that what ever we read we have to use the knowledge that we get from reading to do everything that our God likes. Being a smart person is not perfect without being a good and polite person. Our God loves those who are smart (fathanah) and good (sholih or shalihah). Therefore, all my friends! From now on, let’s use our time to read and read.
In the next verse:
Our God mention QALAM which means a pen. It means that the second great thing that ALLAH wants us is to write. Nothing to read if nobody writes and by reading we can get million inspirations to write. To improve our knowledge we have to write. Our next generation will not know about us if we do not write. The next generation can learn nothing if we do not write. By writing we will provide many sources to be read. In other words, writing and reading are two unseparable things.
Yu can write anything. You can start fom a small thing. For example by writing your own experience in your diary. I myself have published my own diary in this small book. This is my first book and I will try to always write and write.
Finally, I would like to conclude my speech today by saying that reading and writing are two icons of effort to improve our life. Therefore, reading and writing must be our hobbies.
